Kia ora from the HealthTech Activator team

Welcome to the July edition of the Monthly Wrap!

We started the month on a high note following HealthTech Week NZ. We are thrilled to confirm Callaghan Innovation’s HealthTech Activator initiative has received a further 4-year funding commitment from MBIE. This will allow us to continue to deliver the programmes, services and support sought by early-stage HealthTech businesses to de-risk their approach as they scale for success. MBIE has also confirmed a further 4-year funding commitment for Te Tītoki Mataora, the MedTech Research Translator hosted by the University of Auckland, underscoring greater support for the translational research to early-stage commercialisation in HealthTech.

New Zealand is making remarkable progress in health technology, underscored by a significant $280 million investment in new cancer treatments and advancements in radiopharmaceutical therapies. Innovations like telemedicine and AI-driven diagnostics are enhancing healthcare on a global scale. Additionally, the University of Waikato and Spark Health are teaming up to improve digital health technologies, and a major blood cancer trial has progressed to its second phase, highlighting the country's dedication to cutting-edge research.
